When people think about electrical contractors, they often picture electricians installing sockets, lighting and power supplies. While that’s certainly part of what we do, our role in large-scale commercial projects goes much further than that.
From the first planning meeting to the final handover, we work behind the scenes to keep projects moving, solve problems before they arise and ensure every electrical installation is safe, reliable and built to last.
Whether we’re working on a new office, warehouse, retail unit or commercial refurbishment, our goal is always the same – to deliver high-quality electrical installations that help the project run smoothly from start to finish.
It All Starts with Careful Planning
Every successful commercial project begins with a solid plan, and that’s where we come in.
Before the first cable is installed, we work closely with project managers, architects and other trades to understand exactly how the building will be used. This allows us to design electrical systems that not only meet today’s requirements but can also support the future needs of the business.
At this stage, we consider things like:
- Power requirements
- Lighting layouts
- Emergency lighting
- Fire alarm systems
- Data and networking
- Security systems
- Energy-efficient solutions
Taking the time to plan everything properly helps avoid delays, reduce unexpected costs and keeps the project running efficiently.
Bringing the Project to Life
Commercial electrical work is typically completed in two main stages.
First Fix
During first fix, we install all the hidden infrastructure before the walls and ceilings are finished. This includes cable containment, wiring, distribution boards and the essential groundwork that powers the building.
Although much of this work won’t be visible once the project is complete, it’s one of the most important stages of the installation.
Second Fix
As the building starts to take shape, we move on to second fix.
This is where we install lighting, sockets, switches, emergency lighting, data outlets and other electrical accessories before thoroughly testing every system to make sure everything is operating safely and as intended.
Working Alongside Other Trades
Large commercial projects are a team effort, and we work closely with a wide range of other professionals throughout the build.
From builders and plumbers to HVAC engineers, decorators and project managers, good communication is essential to ensure everyone can work safely and efficiently.
Construction projects don’t always go exactly to plan, so we’re used to adapting when schedules change and finding practical solutions that keep the project moving.
Safety Is at the Heart of Everything We Do
No matter the size of the project, safety is always our top priority.
We ensure every installation complies with the latest wiring regulations and industry standards, carrying out thorough inspection and testing before handing the project over.
By taking the time to do things properly, we help deliver electrical systems that are safe, dependable and ready for everyday use.
Modern Commercial Buildings Need Modern Electrical Systems
Today’s commercial buildings rely on far more than lighting and power alone.
We regularly install systems such as:
- LED lighting
- EV charging points
- CCTV systems
- Access control
- Data cabling
- Wi-Fi infrastructure
- Three-phase power supplies
- Smart lighting controls
- Energy monitoring systems
These technologies help businesses operate more efficiently while improving security, sustainability and day-to-day functionality.
Keeping Projects on Schedule
We understand how important deadlines are on commercial construction projects.
Our team plans installations carefully, communicates with other trades and works efficiently to help keep the overall programme on track, all while maintaining the high standards of workmanship our clients expect.
Our aim is to complete every installation safely, professionally and with as little disruption to the wider project as possible.
Support Beyond Project Completion
Our relationship with clients doesn’t end once the project is finished.
Many businesses continue to work with us for planned maintenance, electrical testing, upgrades, office expansions, fault finding and future alterations.
Because we already understand the building and its electrical systems, we’re able to provide ongoing support quickly and efficiently whenever it’s needed.
